Set deep in the Wiltshire countryside just a few miles from historic Avebury Stone Circle. Compton Bassett is a delightful village of stone-built whitewashed and thatched cottages

The White Horse Inn dates back to the early 1700s but didn't become an inn until the 1860s when it also served as a bakery and grocer's shop. Today, it's a lively and welcoming place, just how you'd hope to find a traditional village hostelry, complete with low-beamed ceilings, mullioned windows, open log fireplace and, a popular amenity in this part of the country, a skittle alley. The accomodation is adjacent to the hotel in a stylish modern annex.
